Please review our Registration Policies.

MANDATORY - As per Hockey Canada, the Respect in Sport Parent course must be renewed every four years.

Since the implementation by Hockey Canada of having to renew the RISP (Respect in Sport Parent) course every 4 years, it is highly recommended to check if your RIS Certification is still valid by visiting the RIS website at: https://hockeyalbertaparent.respectgroupinc.com .   If any player shows up for Conditioning Camp or for an Evaluation/Tryout Skate with the mandatory Respect in Sport course still outstanding or expired on the player's Hockey Canada Registry profile, the player will not be allowed on the ice and there will not be a "make-up" Conditioning Camp skate or evaluation/tryout skate date and time set for this player.

Registrations are NOT complete until the course has been completed.

A completed registration (for NEW players only) includes:

  • Completed Registration Form

  • Copy of Birth Certificate or Passport.

  • Copy of Alberta Health Care Card.

  • The new ONLINE PARENT DECLARATION form must be completed and submitted to admin@nwzhockey.ca .

This form can be found at https://www.hockeyalberta.ca/parent-declaration-form/ .

Please make sure you put the registrar's email - admin@nwzhockey.ca - in the last box FORWARD SUBMISSION so that the registrar receives it.

At the BOTTOM OF THE FORM you must provide a PROOF OF RESIDENCY.  This must be a recent utility bill in the parents' names and must be a power, water or gas bill.  In other words, the bill must be from Direct Energy, Epcor or Enmax.  No other bills or documents will be accepted (these include a driver's license, cable or phone bill, or car insurance documents).  If you've just moved into a new residence and haven't received a utility bill as yet, a copy of your Bill of Sale will be accepted as Proof of Residency.

If you are unable to upload a Proof of Residency, please email it directly to the NWZ Registrar at admin@nwzhockey.ca.

One parent must have a current Respect in Sport (RIS) Certificate.  To complete the course, look up an existing Certificate Number or to redo the course (it expires after 4 years and must be redone), please go to the RIS site at:   https://hockeyalbertaparent.respectgroupinc.com/ .

NOTE:  If you are a RETURNING PLAYER (previously registered with the NWZ Hockey Association, Whitemud West Hockey Association or the Hawks Athletic Club) and are registering in person, you do not have to provide the above noted documentation as it is already in the Hockey Canada Registration system.

Instructions for Online Registration:

Will the NWZ Hockey Association be having any In-Person Registration Dates?

At this time there are no In-Person Registration Dates scheduled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.  However, we are currently sourcing plexiglass barriers for utilization in the NWZ Office for the purposes of safety should we wish to host in-person registration.  When (or if) this happens, a notice of the date(s) of in-person registration will be posted on the home page of the NWZ Hockey Association website (www.nwzhockey.ca) and our members will also be notified by mass e-mail.

If an In-Person Registration does take place, all members attending will be required to wear a face mask (not provided by the NWZ).  Further, only two members will be allowed into the office at the same time with only one member per family attending to the registration.  Children will not be allowed to accompany their parent into the office so provision for childcare for any children that must be left outside of the office must be considered.  Childcare will not be provided by the NWZ Hockey Association.  These measures will be implemented for the safety of all concerned.
