NWZ Ice Allocation Procedures
Game/ Practice Schedules - The schedules that are distributed each tiering round are created by the Hockey Edmonton Ice Committee and forwarded to the Northwest Zone Ice Allocator for distribution to the operating areas (Whitemud West Hockey Association, Hawks Athletic Club and the Northwest Zone Midget and Bantam teams).
Scheduling Concerns - Any questions or concerns regarding the assigned games or practices should be directed to the Northwest Zone Ice Allocator via email. Please indicate clearly the date time and location of the ice slot and a description of your concerns. All teams will receive the occasional ice slot that is early in the morning.
Rescheduling Games - If you need to reschedule a game due to travel to a tournament or other event, you will need to get approval from the city category director and your category director within you organization. All ice from rescheduled games must be used for exhibition games and you as a team are responsible for finding a suitable replacement slot for the un-played game. Referees have been assigned to the game ice slot. Your team will be charged for the original game slot as per Northwest Zone team budgets. You are responsible for the cost of the replacement ice and the payment of the referees.
Scheduled Practices - The practices that are scheduled for your team, must be used by your team. You cannot replace a scheduled practice with another ice slot that you find that might be at a more desirable location or time. If for some reason you cannot use your practice slot, you can trade the ice slot to another team within your zone or give the slot back to the zone for redistribution. You cannot sell scheduled practice or game slots for a profit.
Booking Procedures - You can book an ice slot for your team by going to the Hockey Edmonton Ice Booking page at www.hockeyedmonton.ca/Rentals . You must be on the team hardcard in order to purchase ice for the team. You will receive a confirmation email that your ice slot has been booked. The Northwest Zone Ice Allocator will also receive a copy of your booking. The Northwest Zone is billed directly by Hockey Edmonton. You will receive an invoice for your ice slot from the Northwest Zone Ice Allocator at the end of the month in which the slot is scheduled for. Once a slot has been booked you are responsible to pay for the slot. If slots are cancelled or returned by your team you are still responsible for payment unless the slot is resold.
